And no, adding lemon to your water doesn't "speed up" your metabolism. Last night, I saw this moon as I swam and it took my breath away. And then my next thought was “oh I should offer up something I want to change or have fixed.” And to my surprise, there was nothing. There was only contentment, joy and a deep trust that all the layers I’ve stripped off, all the ways I’ve allowed myself to follow the #innateintelligence of my #bodysoulwisdom has allowed me to feel at peace with my health, my body, my contribution in the world and the dreams and desires I have for myself. As someone who lived most of her life wracked with doubt, worry, anxiety and deep insecurity, this place of contentment caught me was a delightful surprise. Everything comes back around... . . . In highschool my senior thesis was on how media negatively affects female body image. It was 2001. And while I intellectually understood the role the media played in my perception of self, I couldn't help but be a victim. . . . Growing up, all of my closest friends were naturally thin. I, on the other hand, had high cholesterol at the age of 8. So from a very early age I was aware, not just of bodies, but of the "dangers" of certain foods. . . . By high school it got worse. Not my cholesterol...that was actually fine...but my body image. Enter Slimfast, stackers, and eventually addiction. Each time I lost weight, and each time I was praised. . . . So now, as I work to stop demonizing certain foods and listen to the natural cues of my body, I see it shifting, if ever so slightly, into its non-diet shape, which has always been what's landed me back into dieting...it's a cycle after all. . . . But I'm trying something different. I'm trying my best to embrace what is mine while completely submersing myself with body positive, head, and intuitive eating influencers. And interestingly enough, there are a few highschoolers in my husband's class who are looking to do a project on body image. Send then to me, I said. 💓 We'll do it together. Que ça prenne 3 mois ou 3 ans, ce n'est pas le plus important. Changer n'est pas facile, c'est challengeant ! Très ! I don’t wake up everyday and love my body. In fact, most days I don’t love it. We have quite the rocky history together and I don’t know if I will ever fully love it 100% but I do know that I love myself and I accept my body for the amazing vessel it is. • It took a while to get to this point and it happened through massive amounts of positive self-talk. You can actually overpower negative thoughts with positive ones. The next time you start to tear yourself down, build yourself back up with a few positive affirmations that work for you. • A personal favorite...I don’t have to be perfect to be fucking awesome ⚡️

Fulfill your life 💞 - When i was at my lowest, sadest point of my 20year diet career (binge eater/food addicted), i barely ate something and didn't lose a gram of weight. I was freezing the whole day, had no energy, a short temper and on top of it, i refused going out because there could be food i had to resist... i had an empty stomach and an even more empty life. - Since a year i'm learning how to eat intuitively. What physical hunger feels like etc... and my body finally relaxes. There is no stress anymore. My body knows that there is plenty of good, healthy food coming if there are hunger signs ... i stopped checking myself in the mirror. i'm good as i am and my body knows best. It is not interested in carrying more weight than needed. And when my body is ready to let go, i'll be ready too. ❤️ . Just made a tasty bulletproof coffee and I'm gonna get comfy and start taking some notes. ✏️ Last night was the first session of The Eat Happy Course in Carmarthen, and it was amazing. ♥️ I feel really happy that this is the year I'm going to share the Eat Happy Method far and wide, and it was lovely to begin in my hometown. . . . I feel like I'm on tour. But instead of performing music, I'm teaching skills for a happier relationship with food. At the start of Eat Happy as a business I was a bit unsure as to which route to take. But now I know. T H I N K I N G It can be hard to find the right balance of food thoughts in our head. ... The idea of making a couple of hundred decisions around food each day sounds a bit mind blowing ... They could go something like this (these were mine this morning) I’m hungry. I think I feel like muesli I wonder if I’m really hungry, I did eat out last night and it was pretty late Oh tea. Yes I’ll have a cup of tea I think I feel like toast Oh chocolate! Where did that come from? Could I have a Cadbury’s mini roll for breakfast? Would that be wrong? I’m definitely hungry. I’ll drink my tea first then decide 1/2 way through my cuppa, I make breakfast for me and my boy Eat muesli, wondering if I will have seconds ... No doubt we will all have very different thoughts, conversations in our heads and make all sorts of different decisions but can you see how we could very easily hit 225 ... When you factor in the 70,000-80,0000 thoughts and decisions we make every day about anything and everything, 225 doesn’t sound a lot does it? ... And of course 225 is very much an average. How distracted you are - when we get into our working day, many of us become so focused on the job in hand or feel under pressure to tick off the things on our to do lists that we tune out. We stop listening to our body, ignoring hunger cues and therefore stop / avoid thinking about food because we don’t think eating is important at the time ... 2. Your level of pre-occupation with food. Dieting behaviours such as calorie or point counting, following strict meal plans or actively restricting food will increase your awareness of food and therefore you tend to think more about the foods you are not having. Dieters often have many more food thought than non-dieters ... 3. You have very little interest in food or eating. Some people just don’t enjoy food. For various reasons they have become disconnected from food and how it makes them feel. This can happen if your diet is uninspiring and samey or you’ve had a negative experience ... That because I use the phrase “What is measured.....is controlled” and with using @myfitnesspal I’m in control all the time! Now a lot of diets would label this ice cream for example as the devil for weightloss, bad choices, or just demonise it in any shape or form! Truth is, you can still eat the foods you enjoy, and incorporate them into your diet/lifestyle to give you the balance for you to keep a sustainable lifestyle! Now diets feed from peoples misery for financial gain! They don’t mention calories, they don’t mention calorie deficit, they don’t mention controlling your own calories because they want money, and money from you!!! And each diet has restrictions in there own way to guide you into a calorie deficit so like this ice cream for instance, they wouldn’t advise you to eat this! But why? . Now I’ve had so many people telling me they have come away from “diets” to control there own calories, downloading @myfitnesspal and winning! They are saving money, losing inches, and eating the foods they enjoy! Obviously in moderation but still! It’s a win win for me and for them! As I said in my stories about my progress picture, does it do me any harm if you are smart with your calories? No! And I want more people realising this! . X is for x-ploration! 🤣 If you take the first steps and decide you are going to try eating intuitively. When you are first starting out IE, you will enter a phase of exploration. This may be exciting.. or terrifying.. or maybe a bit of both. With all the foods at the proverbial table, are you even hungry?! This can feel overwhelming, but as I’ve said before, you can’t f this up. It’s all discovery and exploration. You may learn you don’t actually like the foods you thought you did! (Because I denied myself sweet stuff for such a long time I thought giving myself permission to have these things would result in eating loads of chocolate. But in actual fact, I don’t really have a sweet tooth. I don’t “crave” chocolate in that awfully stereotypical way .. because it’s available to me if I want it, and generally I don’t.) You will overeat during this time. You will underestimate your hunger. And that’s ok. Kindness to self will go miles. Hello Friday! 🤗 I want to share with you my Friday ritual✨ Self Care Friday✨ Each week I do my best to end it doing something for myself. I don’t feel the need to be rewarded for working hard (specially as I love what I do!), but it’s so nice to give back to myself! And even though I sometimes work on the weekend too, a weekend is still a weekend, and I enjoy celebrating it. . Examples? This evening I’m going to a gong sound bath. Last week I went for a massage, the week before I cleaned our house (yes! I consider it as self care! Love having long coffees on a Saturday morning in a clean fresh house), next week I’ll be eating 🥐 in Paris! . Do you have a Friday ritual? Food is so much more than just the nutrients it contains. Yes it fuels your body, but it also fuels your mind. It can bring happiness, joy and satisfaction. It can bring people together. It can comfort pain. And sadly, it can also bring about feelings of guilt, shame, longing and anger. Just for one day I challenge you to think less about the food you’re eating specifically for it’s nutrients and instead, think about how it makes you feel 💛. That flakey pastry, those soft boiled eggs, that last square of chocolate. Whatever it may be, take a moment. If you’re fortunate to be able to eat, share and enjoy what is around you, maybe it’s time to take a moment to appreciate it. One of the topics that a lot of people want to hear more about is emotional eating. Why? Because we all do it! Our emotions have been linked to food from the moment that we came into this world. As a baby you were fed and receiving cuddles and love at the same time. Even as a little one we craved for a comfort boob now and then. And that craving continues throughout life. But we grow up and our emotional world becomes more complex. Eating will not fulfill all of our emotional needs anymore, so we need different strategies. And it is up to you to find those.
Digestion 101 🤓 . Did you know that digestion begins in the mouth with chewing and the enzyme salivary amylase which helps to break down carbohydrate. 👄 . When we swallow food moves down the oesphagus and past the lower oesophageal sphincter into our stomach.👇🏼 . Our stomach is super acidic, like battery acid this is helpful for the denaturing (breaking down) proteins. The stomach also churns the food helping to turn it into mush before the pyloric sphincter opens and it moves into the s.intestine.👇🏼 . The s.intestine is 6-8m long. It's split into 3 parts - the duodenum where most digestion takes place, the jejunum where most absorption takes place and the ileum, where you have absorption of fat & fat soluble vitamins A, D, E &K. The small intestine is where pancreatic juices are secreted to digest food along with bile to emulsify fats.🧀 . Food, known as a chyme in the digestive system, passes into the L.intestine via the ileo caecal valve. The large intestine / colon is home to your billions of gut bacteria. These gut bacteria ferment fibre to produce short chain fatty acids which confer numerous benefits, and wind! 💨 . Finally, anything left passes into the rectum before leaving the body via the anus. 💩 . A simple intro to digestion just in case you were interested on a Friday morning! Just wanted to post a little update. I am really really pleased with the way I have been avoiding anything diet culture related while I learn to fill my life with all things fun and not diet related, and I'm enjoying my new found time and definitely enjoying my freedom around food! I am eating pretty much exactly what I want and it's fab :) However, I am still anxious about putting on weight. I have changed into my larger work trousers so I can't feel my other trousers that were always a bit tight, getting tighter. I haven't weighed myself for 2 days. Tbh though I would definitely have weighed myself on work scales this morning if the battery wasn't flat. I thought I didn't care what the number was but clearly I do as I'm annoyed I don't know what it is, even though I know it will be higher! But, in the grand scheme of things, considering how much I was obsessing about diets and health I feel so so much free-er and better. Food is a human necessity. We're required to eat it. You are not weak because you need to eat. You are human. * When you deprive yourself of nutrients, your body craves them. It does everything in its power to seek out nutrition, including thinking about food more, being drawn to more foods, and eating! * My clients often tell me, "I have no will power when it comes to food." But there is a reason we feel a strong pull to eat... survival! * Now, you might be saying, "but I do eat enough." And I'm going to say, "It''s complex." * 🌟We have a very skewed perception of what is enough. So what you think is enough may be much less than what your body actually needs in order to thrive. 🌟Even when eating "enough" calories, a history of restriction still scares the body, unsure of when the famine may come again. 🌟When certain foods groups are limited or eliminated, even when eating "enough" overall, the body will seek out what it needs. So when on a low carb diet, the body actually craves carbohydrates for fuel. 🌟And even if you're eating *enough* and a variety of foods, if you're feeling guilty or assigning negative labels to certain foods, there is a deprivation mindset. The idea that these foods will soon go away because they are bad leads to wanting more now! * So my friend, you are not weak nor lacking will power. You are simply human. MOVING THROUGH ANGER (2 of 2) Anger can feel totally overwhelming. It is a BIG emotion. The reason being is that it arises when one of your boundaries has been breached. The anger is signalling that something is not right for you in the way you have been treated or in an event that has taken place. You do not need to ACT from that place though. Anger does not presuppose an immediate responsive action. In fact anger suggests we need to take a pause. We need to take a moment to feel the anger, to let it course through our bodies and NOT to lash out at someone. Because it is such a powerful emotion the most helpful ways to move through it are physical. Any form of exercise can help, even walking or light swimming. As we move the emotion moves freely and gets released. Punching a pillow or screaming into a pillow or into nature are also great ways to move through it. Anger can be scary because it feels big but it’s an emotion like any other. One recent study found that transgender and gender nonconforming youth are four times more likely to have an eating disorder than cisgender youth. This is Christi’s story. I started my journey on May 14 2018 it was our 11 year anniversary. We went to a beautiful island for a getaway. And not one time did I take my cover up off and walk in my bathing suite. We live in Florida and had just put a pool in at our home too!! How was I going to swim and feel comfortable when I was miserable!! My joints hurt, my knees ached and I was so depressed. I was a hot mess!! Fast forward 7 months and 60 lbs later and I feel fabulous!! I can wear a suite without feeling ashamed and all of my pain is gone and I’m off of my antidepressants! I’m now living life and healthier than I have been in 15 years!!! #theantidiet #doitafraid
Do you ever feel like you have the world on your shoulders? It was quite the surprise to me when I found out that taking on too much and over-giving WASN’T really doing anyone any favors (especially me). Growing up, my mom couldn’t handle her pain. She tried to end her life. From that point on, when I was 3 years old, I decided to do my best to keep pain away from the people I loved. Let me tell you. It was a lot of work. It exhausted me. I developed bad habits, like using food to de-stress. I started to feel anxious when things happened to people that were out of my control. Like my Father dying. Come to find out, me trying to keep other people safe, happy or free from pain is not a real thing. This is actually good news. Taking on other people’s problems robs them of the gift of finding their own solutions on their own path. There’s a much bigger plan in place than mine! I can fully relax. I can get back to filling my own cup, which I am still figuring out how to do (child’s pose helps!) and as it turns out, I am a lot more capable, strong and happy when I do. 💪🏼💖
One piece of content can change someone’s life. - That piece of content (either video, an Instagram post, blog, or podcast) can be from you as well… - It is crazy to think about but words from others (especially if the words are meaningful) can help change someone’s life. - When I had zero aspirations and also in one of the darkest points of my life… a youtube ad changed the path of everything. - A Freakin youtube Ad. - I am not even joking. I was bingeing some show on my iPad and I vividly remember this ad popping up… - I clicked on it and then every since then, I found a new Bob Chang. - That was when I was thinking to myself… how come I am not posting on IG as much anymore? - I am doing a daily form podcast documenting things but what about the content that may make a difference in someone’s life? - I know that my content has made some sort of difference in some people’s lives (because I have seen the change and from everything, they have told me…) - But there are also all the people who silently read my content from time to time… - What if one post helps inspire someone to go to the gym and that causes them to keep going? - It sounds so small and so simple… yet, it is so vast and important. - Thank you for those who follow me and read my content. - I really do appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. - __________________ #fitness #freebook #gains #weightloss #antidiet #habits #goals #wins #action #justdoit #clickthelink #magic
